FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITIES: Spring Mill is now qualified to offer franchises to residents of a number of states. We developed our franchise program so that others could own and operate a Spring Mill Bread Co. bakery without having to start from scratch as we did over twelve years ago. We have learned a great deal about the business since this time and are enthusiastic about passing this information on to others whose aspirations mirror ours. One may wonder whether baking experience is a prerequisite to becoming a Spring Mill franchisee. It is not. Indeed, the founders gave up a legal career and a career in business to start Spring Mill. What is needed, however, is to have a love for baking and selling whole grain breads and to have a passion for owning your own small business and being your own boss.
Please understand that operating a Spring Mill bakery is not without its challenges. Baking great quality, fresh breads and sweets daily from scratch takes much effort, as does providing superior quality customer service on a consistent basis. Of course, the rewards of running a successful Spring Mill are many. Encouraging healthy eating habits is especially fulfilling. And watching smiles slowly emerge and grow as hurried customers enter the bakery and "decompress," provides a great feeling given the hectic pace many customers maintain. We like to think that Spring Mill offers food for the soul as well as the heart!

We are seeking “partners” who recognize the value of baking whole wheat breads and sweets from scratch, using fresh, stone-milled flour. The resulting baked goods command a significant premium and build substantial good will with both your health-conscious customer and your mainstream shopper who appreciates premium goods. With Spring Mill recipes and baking methods, your in house baked goods will no longer be viewed as nondescript, fungible goods. Rather, they will rise to the level of premium quality, branded niche goods. In today’s retail climate, where the “middle of the road is a dead end,” that distinction is good for business!

LOCAL SALES. Spring Mill serves a number of wholesale accounts—both large and small. We serve large accounts in the Washington Metropolitan area directly with our own delivery vehicles. The minimum sales amount for this arrangement is generally $150, and we do not take returns. We serve small accounts through a delivery service. For these deliveries we simply pass through without mark up the fee we are charged. We can make deliveries in many parts of the Washington metropolitan area for a flat fee of twelve dollars.
OUT OF TOWN SALES. Out of town accounts are served generally through UPS ground. The location of the account and the size of the order will determine the UPS charge.
